A Spacecraft Is About to Fly Into the Sun’s Atmosphere for the First Time

Space exploration is taking a giant leap forward as NASA prepares to send a spacecraft into the Sun’s atmosphere for the first time in history.

The Parker Solar Probe, named after astrophysicist Eugene Parker, is set to launch in August 2018 with the mission of studying the outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere, known as the corona.
